What is a Christian Counseling Degree?

A Christian counseling degree program may allow students to follow a range of paths in their career in the Christian faith. How Long Could it Take to Earn a Christian Counseling Degree?

Students may work on this degree part time or full time. A typical bachelor’s degree takes about four years to complete. It may be possible to complete this program sooner with an accelerated program. A master’s degree or completing graduate school may take about two years to complete. A doctoral program could take about two years to complete as well.

How Much Does a Christian Counseling Degree Cost?

Many factors could influence the cost of Christian counseling degrees. Factors may include the level of education (bachelor’s program or master’s) and possibly an area of focus and electives selected. According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), for the 2018/19 academic year it cost about $24,900 to attend a public 4 year college. This includes tuition, required fees, books and supplies and living on campus. The costs are higher ($51,900) at private non profit schools which many Christian colleges are.

According to BLS, job growth through 2029 is expected to be much faster than average at 22%. 79% of employers prefer for applicants to have at least a masters degree. Some require a Ph.D.
